Amber Alert Canceled for 11 Year Old North Carolina Girl

The State of North Carolina canceled the Amber Alert Wednesday afternoon (1-06) after the girl was found safe and the suspect taken into custody. No word on where she was found at this time.

The State of North Carolina issued the Amber Alert Wednesday afternoon (1-06) after the girl was reportedly abducted by the suspect from the Cumberland Children's Hospital in New Kent County, Virginia. The suspect is believed to have taken the child to the Bath area of North Carolina. The child is in need of immediate medical attention.

Alexis Cartwright, an white female, 11 years old, 5' 3", 137 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a blue coat with Aeropostale Logo a yellow and green shirt and blue jeans.

The suspect is Lemuel Cartwright, a white male, 6' 7" with brown eyes and brown hair.

The suspect vehicle is a blue 1993 Dodge RAM 1500 pick-up with N.C. tag number XYZ-8450.

Anyone with information is asked to call the New Kent County Sheriff's Office at 804-966-9500 or dial 911.
