Amber Alert Canceled Wednesday, May 7.
Devon Marchall
was found safe in Indian River County Florida early Wednesday the 7th. The hunt for the suspect continues.
Anthony Oyibo, 20, was last seen in a home in Indian River County early this morning. With him was Deven Marshall, the 5-year-old son of Oyibo's girlfriend. For safety reasons, police are not releasing the address or part of town the boy was found in.
"(Oyibo) showed up at his brother's house about 2:30 this morning," said Indian River County Sheriff's Sgt. Darin Jones. "He went in with the 5-year-old, spoke briefly with his brother and then left the child behind."
Jones said as soon as Oyibo left the home, his sister-in-law took custody of the child and fled to a neighbor's house where she called 911. Officers are not sure why Oyibo left the child behind.
Police, already aware of the Amber Alert, came to the neighbor's home, where they found Deven safe and uninjured. He has since been turned over the the custody of the Florida Department of Children & Families, and is expected to be reunited with his mother later today, Jones said.
"He seemed like an ordinary kid," Jones said. "He didn't say too much."
Police in Indian River County, as well as statewide authorities are continuing their search this morning for Oyibo. In the meantime, police say he should be considered armed and dangerous.
"As far as we know, he's still in the same vehicle," a champagne-colored Mercury Mystique sedan, license plate number E45-XIK which Oyibo carjacked from a woman in Jacksonville, Jones said.
The hunt for Oyibo began about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday when Jacksonville authorities say Oyibo fled the scene of a violent domestic dispute that left 5-month-old Jacob Oyibo dead. Oyibo has not officially been named a suspect in his son's death, or the attack on the other child in the home, a 16-month-old girl, according to Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Assistant Chief David Sembach.
However, Oyibo is wanted for questioning in the matter as well as on three outstanding warrants on other undisclosed charges including carjacking.
"We have some serious interest in talking to Anthony Oyibo," Sembach said.
The mother of all three children was also injured in the dispute. Police did not disclose her name or elaborate on the nature of her injuries early today.
The 16-month-old is in stable condition in a Jacksonville hospital this morning.
Police are looking for a stolen car, a 1996 champagne colored, four door, Mercury Mystique with Florida license tag E45 XIK.
The car has a small dent in the front bumper and two stickers. The car was last seen at approximately 9:45pm near Ricker Road and 103rd Street. Witnesses say that when Oyibo allegedly took the car, he did have a child with him.
Early Tuesday evening, police responded to a domestic disturbance at Westchase Court Apartments on Jacksonville's Westside. Inside, they found a dead 5-month-old, another baby seriously injured and the 5-year-old son of the woman who lives in the apartment was missing.
Anyone with information is asked to call Jacksonville Sheriff\'s Office at (904)630-0500 or the FDLE at 1-888-356-4774 or dial 911.
